Kentucky WR Lyons out for season

Oct 13, 2008 - 9:17 PM LEXINGTON, Kentucky (Ticker) -- Kentucky wide receiver Dicky Lyons Jr. will miss the rest of the season after suffering a knee injury during a 24-17 loss to South Carolina on Saturday, coach Rich Brooks announced Monday.

The senior saw his career come to an end when he tore the posterior cruciate ligament and the medial collateral ligament in his right knee while being tackled during the second quarter.

Lyons, who is scheduled to graduate in December, will have surgery once the swelling in his knee subsides.

"I feel very bad for Dicky," Brooks said. "He has had a great career and made some great plays. He is a crowd favorite and has meant a lot to this program."

In six games this season, Lyons had 33 receptions for 264 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Lyons ranks fifth in school history in receptions (141), fourth in receiving yards (1,752) and tied for third in touchdown catches (18).
