RB Benson starts for Bengals

Oct 19, 2008 - 5:33 PM CINCINNATI (Ticker) -- The winless Cincinnati Bengals have inserted running back Cedric Benson into the starting lineup for Sunday's game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

It is the first start for Benson since the Bengals (0-6) signed him as a free agent two weeks ago. He was released in the offseason by the Chicago Bears following a series of legal isues.

The former Texas star replaced Chris Perry, who is averaging only 2.6 yards per carry and has fumbled five times.

Cincinnati entered Sunday's game with the second-worst rushing attack in the NFL, averaging just 72.2 yards per game. Only the Indianapolis Colts are worse.
