After loss, UConn changes kickers

Oct 21, 2008 - 10:05 PM STORRS, Connecticut (Ticker) -- After missing three field goals in last week's 12-10 loss at Rutgers, Connecticut senior kicker Tony Ciaravino has lost his job to a freshman.

UConn coach Randy Edsall said Tuesday that redshirt freshman David Teggart will replace Ciaravino for Saturday's game against Cincinnati.

Among the field goals missed by Ciaravino last week was a potential 42-yard game-winner that hit the right upright with 1:09 remaining.

Ciaravino has converted 9-of-15 field goals this season. He had made seven in a row before the three misses at Rutgers.

Edsall also said Tuesday that quarterback Zach Frazer suffered a head injury against Rutgers, although he has not yet been ruled out of this week's game.

Connecticut (5-2) has dropped two straight after winning its first five games.
