Paterno to get hip, leg injuries examined
Oct 21, 2008 - 10:20 PM STATE COLLEGE, Pennsylvania (Ticker) -- Penn State coach Joe Paterno is finally going to get his lingering right hip and leg injuries checked out.The 81-year-old coach said during a teleconference Tuesday that he will get his hip and leg examined next week, when the third-ranked Nittany Lions have a bye.
"I'm gonna take a day or two off and I'll let our doctors take a look at it and we'll see where we go from there," Paterno said.
The ailments have forced Paterno to coach from the press box for the last three games. He has not been on the sideline for an entire game since September 27 against Illinois.
Paterno said he originally injured the hip while practicing an onside kick during a preseason practice in August.
The Nittany Lions visit No. 10 Ohio State on Saturday night in a showdown that could decide the Big Ten Conference title.
