Pittsburgh QB Stull released from hospital

Oct 26, 2008 - 7:31 PM PITTSBURGH (Ticker) -- Pittsburgh quarterback Bill Stull was released from UPMC Presbyterian Hospital on Sunday morning, less than 24 hours after sustaining head and neck injuries in a 54-34 loss to Rutgers.

Stull was carted off the field on a stretcher after suffering a concussion and a "stinger" in the third quarter Saturday. The school announced that Stull will undergo further evaluations throughout the week.

"We are incredibly relieved and grateful that Billy is OK and out of the hospital," said Pittsburgh head coach Dave Wannstedt, who did not reveal if Stull would play next weekend against Notre Dame.

Stull hit his neck against teammate LeSean McCoy's back while attempting a pass play in the third quarter and was motionless for about 10 minutes.

Prior to suffering the injury, the junior was 16-of-22 for 279 yards with no touchdowns. Pittsburgh was trailing, 41-31, when the injury occurred.
