Wisconsin TE Beckum out for season
Oct 27, 2008 - 1:58 AM MADISON, Wisconsin (Ticker) -- Wisconsin senior tight end Travis Beckum will miss the rest of the season with a fractured left fibula, the school announced Sunday.Beckum suffered the injury, which will end his collegiate career, during Saturday's 27-17 victory over Illinois.
"It's very unfortunate whenever anyone's season is ended because of an injury," Wisconsin coach Bret Bielema said. "Our thoughts are with Travis and his family as he begins his recovery. I visited him today in the hospital and his spirits are good."
A senior, Beckum finished his career with 159 receptions for 2,149 yards and 11 touchdowns, ranking third in Wisconsin history in both receptions and yards.
Beckum had 23 catches for 264 yards this season.
