Bowden suspends five wide receivers

Nov 14, 2008 - 8:03 PM TALLAHASSEE, Florida (Ticker) -- Florida State coach Bobby Bowden on Friday suspended five wide receivers for this weekend's game against Boston College.

Bowden said Taiwan Easterling, Bert Reed, Corey Surrency, Cameron Wade and Richard Goodman were suspended for their involvement in a campus fight Wednesday.

None of the players have yet to be charged by campus police, who are attempting to find out who threw a chair that injured a female bystander during the fracas.

"The police report has not been concluded, but from the information that I have gathered, I am suspending five players who were apparently involved in the fray," Bowden said in a statement.

Easterling leads the Seminoles in catches (26) while Surrency paces the team in touchdowns (four). Reed has three TDs while Wade and Goodman have seen limited playing time.

It marks the third time in the last month that Reed has been suspended and the second for Surrency.

Senior Greg Carr and juniors Rod Owens and Preston Parker are now the only experienced wide receivers heading into the key matchup against Boston College. Florida State (7-2, 4-2) is tied with Wake Forest for first place in the Coastal Division of the Atlantic Coast Conference.
