LOGAN, Utah (Ticker) -- Brent Guy no longer is the guy at Utah State.
In the midst of its fourth straight losing season, Utah State fired Guy on Monday, ending his disappointing tenure as the Aggies' football coach.
Since he was hired in 2005, Guy has compiled an 8-38 record and has never won more than three games in a season.
Utah State athletic director Scott Barnes said Guy will remain to coach the Aggies in their season finale November 29 against New Mexico State.
"I have asked Coach Guy to step down at the end of the season at which time his employment will be terminated," Barnes said. "I felt it was important for our student-athletes that he finish the season, and he has agreed to stay on through the New Mexico State game.
"Coach Guy is a classy individual and has represented our university well during his tenure."
The Aggies, who have a bye this week, are coming off a 45-38 setback at Louisiana Tech on Saturday, dropping their record to 2-9 this season.
"I'd like to thank the university for providing me with the opportunity to be the head football coach here," Guy said. "I'm extremely grateful to the coaches, players and support staff for their tremendous hard work, day in and day out.
"We didn't win as many games on the field as I would have liked, but we started down a path that I believe will benefit the university and this program very soon."
