Notre Dame players pelted with snowballs
Nov 23, 2008 - 2:18 AM SOUTH BEND, Indiana (Ticker) -- It was bad enough that Notre Dame suffered one of the worst losses in the program's storied history Saturday.Prior to the Fighting Irish's 24-23 defeat to Syracuse, several Notre Dame players were pelted with snowballs - by their own fans.
An overnight storm left 10 inches of snow in the South Bend area, and fans sitting in the student section at Notre Dame Stadium threw snowballs toward the home bench, hitting a number of players.
There was no early report regarding any possible arrests, and the Notre Dame players did not comment on the snowball throwing following the game.
Saturday's defeat marked the first time that Notre Dame has ever lost to a team with eight losses. Syracuse came into the contest with a 2-8 record.
No one has shouted yet.
