Texas Tech WR Crabtree injures right ankle

Nov 30, 2008 - 2:20 AM LUBBOCK, Texas (Ticker) -- Texas Tech star wide receiver Michael Crabtree missed the second half of Saturday's 35-28 victory over Baylor with a right ankle injury.

The talented sophomore did not play after suffering the injury on a 6-yard completion with eight minutes remaining in the second half.

Crabtree caught nine passes for 63 yards before being forced out of the game. He returned to the sidelines in the second half wearing street clothes and a boot on his ankle.

Texas Tech coach Mike Leach declined to discuss the injury following the game, saying only that he was looking forward to Crabtree practicing with the team next week.

Crabtree came into the game with 84 receptions for 1,072 yards and his 18 touchdown receptions ranked second in the Football Bowl Subdivision.

"It always hurts, but that second half we played really well without Crabtree out there," Texas Tech quarterback Graham Harrell said. "Everybody else just stepped up.

"All the receivers played well and the offensive line played really well in the second half. I had all day to throw back there."

Even without Crabtree, the Red Raiders (11-1) were able to rally from a 28-14 deficit in the second half.
