UConn RB Dixon suspended after DUI

Dec 2, 2008 - 8:31 PM STORRS, Connecticut (Ticker) -- Connecticut junior running back Andre Dixon has been suspended indefinitely following a drunken-driving charge, head coach Randy Edsall announced Tuesday.

Dixon was arrested on charges of driving while intoxicated at 1:43 a.m. Tuesday. He was stopped for following too close to an officer's car, then arrested after failing a field sobriety test.

Dixon posted $500 bail and is scheduled to appear in court on December 15.

Edsall did not announce that Dixon was arrested and gave no reason for the suspension, saying only that, "... a young man made a mistake, it's unfortunate, but he made a mistake, that's all."

Dixon led the Huskies with 828 yards rushing on 167 carries last season, but has been relegated to a reserve role behind Donald Brown this year. He has just nine carries for 42 yards.

UConn (7-4) wraps up its regular season this Saturday against Pittsburgh (8-3).
