Report: USC coordinator Sarkisian to get Washington job
Dec 5, 2008 - 4:09 AM BRISTOL, Connecticut (Ticker) -- Washington has apparently found its new head coach.According to a report Thursday from ESPN, Southern California offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian will be named the football coach for the Huskies.
Sarkisian has spent the last two seasons serving under Pete Carroll for the Trojans, who have posted a 21-3 record over that span. Washington has not been as prosperous, being the only winless FBS team this season.
The Huskies (0-11), who will conclude their season on Saturday against California, terminated the contract of Tyrone Willingham in the middle of the campaign. Willingham will finish out the season.
Texas Tech coach Mike Leach, Fresno State coach Pat Hill and Cincinnati coach Brian Kelly also interviewed for the position. Washington was also rumored to be pursuing Jim Mora Jr., who is the coach-in-waiting for the NFL's Seattle Seahawks.
No one has shouted yet.
