Miami LS Ivory suspended for Emerald Bowl

Dec 26, 2008 - 4:20 PM SAN FRANCISCO (Ticker) -- Long snapper Chris Ivory is the latest Miami player to be suspended for Saturday's Emerald Bowl against California.

Ivory, who did not accompany the team to San Francisco, was disciplined for violating team rules, although the team did not reveal the specific nature of the violation.

A redshirt freshman and walkon, Ivory handled the long-snapping duties for the past 11 games. He will be replaced by Jake Byrne, one of Miami's two backup quarterbacks.

A total of five Miami players have been suspended for the contest, including quarterback Robert Marve, who shared playing time during the season with fellow freshman Jacory Harris in the Hurricanes' two-platoon system.

Harris, who completed 93-of-153 passes for 1,001 yards with 10 touchdowns and six interceptions, will start against California.
