Rutgers WR Britt enters draft

Jan 3, 2009 - 5:54 PM PISCATAWAY, New Jersey (Ticker) -- Rutgers wide receiver Kenny Britt is following in the footsteps of former teammate Ray Rice.

Britt, who became the Big East's Conference's all-time leading receiver in the Scarlet Knights' 29-23 victory over North Carolina State in the PapaJohn's.com Bowl, announced Saturday that he will enter this year's NFL draft.

"It's always been a dream to me to go to the NFL," Britt said. "This year was my gateway, my opening."

The 6-4, 215-pound junior finished his career at Rutgers with 3,043 receiving yards after catching six passes for 119 yards against the Wolfpack.

A third-team All-American this season, Britt also tied Larry Fitzgerald's Big East record of 14 career 100-yard receiving games.

Britt finished his junior campaign with 87 catches and set a Rutgers' single-season record with 1,371 yards.

Rice, the Scarlet Knights' all-time leading rusher, entered the draft following his junior campaign last year.
