Richt: No updates on future of QB Stafford, RB Moreno
Jan 5, 2009 - 8:15 PM ATHENS, Georgia (Ticker) -- Matthew Stafford and Knowshon Moreno will have to make a major decision regarding their respective football careers in the next 10 days.Georgia head coach Mark Richt said that Stafford and Moreno still have not decided whether to return to the Bulldogs next season.
Both Stafford, a junior quarterback, and Moreno, a redshirt sophomore running back, have been tabbed as potential first-round selections in the 2009 NFL draft. College underclassmen have until January 15 to declare themselves eligible for the draft.
"In a week's time or less, we may know what they are going to do," Richt said Monday, four days after Stafford and Moreno helped Georgia defeat Michigan State in the Capital One Bowl. "I don't want to put undue pressure on them, they have to figure it out by themselves.
"I want what's best for them and to have their heart in it."
Considered a possible No. 1 overall draft selection, Stafford passed for 3,459 yards and 25 touchdowns this season for the Bulldogs (10-3).
The electric Moreno ran for 1,400 yards and 16 TDs despite battling various injuries throughout the campaign.
No one has shouted yet.
