NORMAN, Oklahoma (Ticker) -- Oklahoma defensive tackle Gerald McCoy announced Monday that he will return to school for his junior season rather than enter the 2009 NFL draft.

The 6-4, 285-pound McCoy is considered one of the best defensive lineman in the nation.

McCoy had 30 tackles and 6 1/2 sacks in 14 games for the Sooners, who lost the BCS national championship game to Florida, 24-14, on Thursday. McCoy did not have a tackle, but did intercept Tim Tebow in the loss.
