North Dakota State QB Jackson suspended

Feb 26, 2009 - 12:42 AM FARGO, North Dakota (Ticker) -- North Dakota State quarterback Troy Jackson on Wednesday received a two-game suspension following a guilty plea to drug possession, coach Craig Bohl announced.

Jackson pleaded guilty to a marijuana possession charge last week in Cass County District Court. He received a 12-month deferred sentence with 12 months of unsupervised probation.

"Possession of marijuana is a troubling and concerning offense," Bohl said. "Troy is suspended for the first two games. He will need to follow the university student-athlete policy and will be reinstated after successful completion."

A senior, Jackson will be required to successfully go through the student-athlete drug program that includes mandatory drug-testing, evaluation and counseling.

Jackson played in three games last season after transferring from Los Angeles Valley College, completing 3-of-6 passes for 24 yards.
