Jags sit Mathis, Titans deactivate Harper, Kearse
Nov 1, 2009 - 8:09 PM By TERESA M. WALKER AP Sports WriterNASHVILLE, Tenn.(AP) -- The Jacksonville Jaguars deactivated cornerback Rashean Mathis against Tennessee as expected Sunday with his broken left finger. The Titans are sitting cornerback Nick Harper as he recovers from a broken right arm.
Tennessee also deactivated defensive end Jevon Kearse for a third straight game, and this time Kearse is a healthy scratch after practicing the past couple weeks. Kearse didn't stick around Oct. 11 when he was a healthy scratch against Indianapolis.
The Titans will start William Hayes for Kearse, while Jason Jones starts for Jovan Haye at defensive tackle with Haye deactivated. Rod Hood started for Harper.
Reggie Nelson starts for Jacksonville for Mathis, the Jaguars' career interceptions leader.
