Chiefs activate RB Kolby Smith, release WR Engram
Nov 8, 2009 - 7:37 AM KANSAS CITY, Mo.(AP) -- The Kansas City Chiefs have activated running back Kolby Smith off the physically unable to perform list just in time to use him in Sunday at Jacksonville.Smith underwent knee surgery that shelved him for the last eight games of 2008. He will help replace starting running back Larry Johnson, who was suspended for one game for conduct detrimental to the team.
Since being drafted in the fifth round in 2007, Smith has appeared in 23 games and gained 507 yards on 147 carries.
Also Saturday, the Chiefs released wide receiver Bobby Engram. He played in five games, catching five passes for 61 yards.
