Redskins without Haynesworth, Portis
Nov 22, 2009 - 5:31 PM ARLINGTON, Texas(AP) -- Washington Redskins defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth was out of the lineup Sunday, eliminating a likely in-game meeting with Andre Gurode three years after cleating the Cowboys center in the face.Haynesworth was inactive for Sunday's game because of a sprained left ankle sustained last week that kept him out of practice, and was replaced in the starting lineup by Kedric Golston. Haynesworth was on the field before the game in a Redskins T-shirt, but didn't take part in any kind of pregame warmups.
It would have been the first time for Haynesworth and Gurode to go against each other in a regular-season game since a dirty play in October 2006. Gurode needed 30 stitches and was bothered by headaches and blurred vision after the 6-foot-6, 350-pound Haynesworth, then with Tennessee, kicked him and stomped on his helmetless face. But Gurode didn't miss a game and Haynesworth was suspended for five games - three games longer than anyone ever had been punished for on-field behavior in NFL history.
Gurode and Haynesworth, who could play against each other Dec. 27 when the Cowboys play at Washington, insisted during the week the incident was in the past. They both were at the last two Pro Bowls.
Haynesworth missed his first game for Washington since signing a $100 million, seven-year free-agent deal last spring.
The Redskins were also without running back Clinton Portis for the second straight week because of a concussion.
Offensive tackle Marc Colombo (broken left leg) and safety Ken Hamlin (high right ankle sprain) were inactive for Dallas. They were replaced in the lineup by first-time starters Doug Free at tackle and Alan Ball in the secondary.
