Redskins RB Betts injures knee against Cowboys
Nov 22, 2009 - 8:07 PM ARLINGTON, Texas(AP) -- Washington Redskins running back Ladell Betts, the fill-in for injured Clinton Portis, was knocked out of the Dallas game with a left knee injury, and starting guard Chad Rinehart also left hurt.Betts apparently got hurt on a hard tackle by Bradie James at the end of a 2-yard gain midway through the first quarter Sunday. Team trainers checked Betts' knee on the sideline, and a few minutes later it was announced he was out for the game. The extent of the injury wasn't immediately known.
Rinehart sustained a right ankle injury early in the third quarter when the back of his leg was rolled on by Cowboys linebacker Anthony Spencer at the end of a play. Rinehart was taken off the field on a motorized cart with his lower leg in a brace.
Cornerback DeAngelo Hall sustained a bruised right knee earlier in the game when he was tackled after returning a recovered fumble. He went to the locker room, but returned to the game with a tackle with about six minutes left in the first half.
Betts was starting for Portis, who missed his second straight game because of a concussion. Betts, who ran for 114 yards last week against Denver, finished with four carries for five yards against Dallas.
Portis has not been able to practice since he was injured in a helmet-to-helmet hit against Atlanta.
No one has shouted yet.
