Leonhard active for Jets despite broken thumb
Nov 22, 2009 - 9:00 PM FOXBOROUGH, Mass.(AP) -- Starting safety Jim Leonhard is active for the New York Jets despite breaking his right thumb in their last game.Leonhard did not practice for Sunday's game against the New England Patriots until Friday, when he did so on a limited basis. He was hurt in last Sunday's 24-22 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars.
For the Patriots, cornerback Shawn Springs was inactive for the second straight week despite participating fully in practice all week.
The Jets' inactive players were wide receiver-kick returner Justin Miller, linebackers Vernon Gholston, Ryan Fowler and Kenwin Cummings, defensive end Ropati Pitoitua, guard Matt Slauson and quarterback Erik Ainge. Former Patriot Kevin O'Connell was the third quarterback.
New England's other inactive players were running backs Sammy Morris and Fred Taylor, guard Stephen Neal, tackle Matt Light, wide receiver Sam Aiken, defensive lineman Jarvis Green and linebacker Rob Ninkovich.
