Steelers sign CFL special teams player Doggett
Jan 19, 2010 - 8:40 PM PITTSBURGH(AP) -- The Pittsburgh Steelers have signed linebacker Derrick Doggett, one of the top special teams players in the Canadian Football League.The Steelers had kick coverage problems all season, allowing an NFL-high four kickoff return touchdowns while ranking near the bottom of the NFL in kickoff and punt coverage.
Doggett played for the Edmonton Eskimos in 2008 and the Winnipeg Blue Bombers last season, when he made 27 tackles on special teams. He also had one interception.
The Steelers signed kick returner Stefan Logan from the CFL last year.
