Jets trade QB Stanton to Colts
Mar 23, 2012 - 10:14 PM East Rutherford, NJ (Sports Network) - In the wake of acquiring Tim Tebow, the New York Jets sent quarterback Drew Stanton to the Indianapolis Colts on Friday.Terms of the trade were undisclosed, but the New York Daily News reports that the Jets gave the Colts Stanton and a seventh-round draft pick for a sixth- round pick.
Stanton was selected by the Detroit Lions in the second round of the 2007 draft out of Michigan State and spent his first four NFL seasons with the Lions, serving as Matthew Stafford's backup.
Stanton played in six games in 2010 and completed 69 passes for 780 yards, four touchdowns and three interceptions.
In 12 career games, Stanton has completed 104 passes for 1,158 yards, five touchdowns and nine interceptions.
Stanton signed a one-year $1.25 million deal, which included a $500,000 signing bonus, with the Jets just last week, but quickly requested to be cut or traded once the Tebow trade happened.
