Colts sign DT Ricky Jean-Francois
Mar 14, 2013 - 8:01 PM Indianapolis, IN (Sports Network) - The Indianapolis Colts have signed coveted free agent defensive tackle Ricky Jean-Francois to a multi-year deal. The 6-foot-3, 295-pound former 49er wasn't a starter in San Francisco, but his perceived versatility had many teams in the running to sign the LSU product.
Jean-Francois visited Philadelphia on Wednesday but left the City of Brotherly Love without a deal and Colts owner Jim Irsay swooped in, signing the ascending 26-year-old to a four-year deal worth a reported $22.5 million, according to multiple media sources.
As a part-time player behind All-Pro Justin Smith as well as nose tackle Isaac Sopoaga, Jean-Francois recorded 22 tackles and two sacks in 2012 for the NFC champions in 2012.
