Titans release Matt Hasselbeck
Mar 18, 2013 - 10:03 PM Nashville, TN (Sports Network) - The Tennessee Titans released veteran quarterback Matt Hasselbeck on Monday. The 37-year-old Hasselbeck played the past two years with the Titans.
"I want to thank Matt for his contributions to our team over the last two years," said Titans general manager Ruston Webster. "He was an important part of the transition process - he was a pro at every turn and he provided an example to the rest of the team. I know that we are a better team for his being here and we wish him the best."
After starting all 16 games in 2011, Hasselbeck became a backup to young signal-caller Jake Locker last season. But when a shoulder injury sidelined Locker, Hasselbeck was reinserted into the starter's role for five consecutive games and finished the campaign with 1,367 passing yards, seven touchdowns and five interceptions in eight games overall.
The Boston College product has thrown for 34,517 yards with 201 touchdowns and 147 interceptions during his 14-year career.
