Redskins bring in Tapp
Mar 28, 2013 - 9:10 PM Ashburn, VA (Sports Network) - The Washington Redskins have signed veteran pass rusher Darryl Tapp to an undisclosed contract, the team announced Thursday.Tapp, a Virginia native, joins the Redskins after competing the previous three seasons with NFC East-rival Philadelphia, during which he recorded 88 tackles and 5 1/2 sacks over 39 games in a reserve role.
The seven-year pro has spent his entire career as a defensive end for teams that feature four-man fronts, but is expected to transition to an outside linebacker in Washington's 3-4 alignment and provide depth at that position.
A second-round draft choice of Seattle in 2006, Tapp's best season came with the Seahawks in 2007, when he amassed 49 tackles, seven sacks and three forced fumbles while starting all 16 games.
