Packers release Saine, Smith
Apr 24, 2013 - 10:36 PM Green Bay, WI (Sports Network) - The Green Bay Packers released running back Brandon Saine and linebacker D.J. Smith on Wednesday.Both players had suffered season-ending ACL tears in a Week 6 game against Houston last season.
Smith has totaled 82 tackles, two sacks and an interception in 22 games since joining the team as a sixth-round pick out of Appalachian State in 2011.
Saine, a two-year player out of Ohio State, appeared in six contests last season and eight in 2011, when he ran for 69 yards and caught 10 passes for 69 yards.
