Tennessee Titans 2013 NFL Draft Review
Apr 29, 2013 - 2:25 PM (Sports Network) -1 (10) - Chance Warmack, OG, Alabama; 2 (34) - Justin Hunter, WR, Tennessee; 3 (70) - Bliki Wreh-Wilson, CB, UConn; 3 (97) - Zaxiar Gooden, OLB, Missouri; 4 (107) - Brian Schwenke, C, California; 5 (142) - Lavar Edwards, DE, LSU; 6 (202) - Khalid Wooten, CB, Nevada; 7 (248) - Daimion Stafford, SS, Nebraska
Top Picks Analysis: Talk about turning a weakness into a strength. The interior of the Titans' offensive line was a mess last season so Tennessee signed Andy Levitre away from Buffalo and drafted Warmack, perhaps the best football player in this draft. General manger Rushton Webster then traded up in the second round to keep Hunter in the Volunteer State. A lot of people had a first round grade on Hunter and he gives the Titans some security for Kenny Britt, who is in the last year of his contract and has had more than his share of off-the-field problems. Wreh-Wilson is the kind of long corner that is en vogue in today's NFL, while Gooden is an undersized, speedy linebacker who lacks instinct.
Best Value Pick: Schwenke is one of the quickest centers you will ever see. He doesn't look the part but he's technically sound and if he starts to excel in the weight room, he's got a chance to be an top-tier starter in this league.
Questionable Calls: Gooden was a reach in the third round because he doesn't have the size to take on blocks or the natural instincts to avoid them.
Summary: Adding Warmack and Schwenke to Levitre turns a big weakness into potentially one of the better interior lines in football, while Hunter was a steal in the second round. Wreh-Wilson and Gooden still need plenty of seasoning to become contributors, however.
