Colts, Bills swap linebackers
Apr 29, 2013 - 7:06 PM Indianapolis, IN (Sports Network) - The Indianapolis Colts have acquired linebacker Kelvin Sheppard from the Buffalo Bills in exchange for linebacker Jerry Hughes.Sheppard was selected by the Bills in the third round of the 2011 draft and has started 24 of the 32 games he has played. He has totaled 138 tackles, including 95 solo, with two sacks and a fumble recovery.
The Colts chose Hughes with the 31st overall pick in 2010. He notched 61 tackles, including 44 solo, with five sacks in his three seasons with Indianapolis.
"We wish nothing but the best for Jerry in Buffalo," said Colts general manager Ryan Grigson. "He's a talented guy that did everything we asked of him. At the same time, we are very pleased to be getting a young linebacker who has been a productive starter in this league."
