Panthers sign second-round pick Short
May 22, 2013 - 3:52 PM Charlotte, NC (Sports Network) - The Carolina Panthers signed defensive tackle Kawann Short on Wednesday.The Panthers picked Short in the second round of last month's draft.
Short started all 50 games he played at Purdue and ranks third in school history for tackles for loss (49) and sacks (19 1/2) by a defensive tackle.
"We are very pleased to have Kawann under contract," Panthers general manager Dave Gettleman said. "We felt he was the best pass-rushing defensive tackle in the draft, and we are excited about what he can bring to our defensive front."
With Short signed, Carolina's unsigned draft choices are first-round selection Star Lotulelei, fourth-round pick Edmund Kugbila, fifth rounder A.J. Klein and sixth-round choice Kenjon Barner.
