Steelers sign third-round pick Wheaton
May 23, 2013 - 3:51 PM Pittsburgh, PA (Sports Network) - The Pittsburgh Steelers have signed third- round pick, wide receiver Markus Wheaton to a four-year deal. Financial terms were not disclosed.Wheaton, the 79th overall pick in the 2013 NFL Draft, played collegiately at Oregon State University. The 5-foot-11, 182-pounder, appeared in 49 games and started the final 30 to record a school-record 227 receptions. He ended his collegiate career ranking third on the school's all-time receiving yards list with 2,994 and sixth on the school's all-time receiving touchdowns list with 16.
Wheaton earned first-team All-Pac 12 Conference honors for his senior season efforts.
The Steelers also signed fifth-round pick, cornerback Terry Hawthorne, to a four-year deal.
The Steelers have now have four of their nine draft selections under contract.
