Bucs sign second-round pick Banks
May 23, 2013 - 6:00 PM Tampa, FL (Sports Network) - The Tampa Bay Buccaneers signed their second- round pick, cornerback Johnthan Banks to a four-year contract on Thursday.Tampa Bay chose Banks with its first selection at pick No. 43 in the 2013 NFL Draft.
The 6-foot-2 cornerback out of Mississippi State University posted impressive numbers over his four-year collegiate career, recording 16 interceptions -- three for touchdowns -- 221 tackles and four sacks while starting 45-of-51 games for the Bulldogs.
Banks collected the Jim Thorpe Award his senior season, which recognizes the top defensive back in college football, and was also named first-team All- America.
