Rams signs all seven 2013 draft picks
Jun 13, 2013 - 10:02 PM St. Louis, MO (Sports Network) - The St. Louis Rams took another big offseason step on Thursday by signing all seven of the team's 2013 draft picks, highlighted by both first-round selections, wide receiver Tavon Austin and linebacker Alec Ogletree.Austin, the eighth overall pick in April's draft out of West Virginia University, played in 40 games with the Mountaineers, including 27 starts.
The speedster enjoyed a breakout season in 2012, hauling in 114 receptions for 1,289 yards and 12 touchdowns, rushing for 643 yards and three touchdowns and racking up 813 kick return yards and 165 punt return yards, with a touchdown in each return category.
Austin becomes the second top-10 pick to agree to terms this offseason after Detroit signed the fifth overall pick, defensive lineman Ziggy Ansah, to a five-year deal in May.
Ogletree, the 30th overall pick in the draft out of Georgia, was an All-SEC performer last fall, leading the Bulldogs in tackles (111) in 10 games and nine starts. He finished his three-year college career with 197 tackles -- 20 for a loss -- and six sacks.
The Rams also announced the signing of five more draft picks to round out a busy front office day on Thursday.
The team agreed to terms with third-round pick T.J. McDonald, a safety from Southern California, Austin's WVU teammate and third-round pick wide receiver Stedman Bailey, fourth-round pick offensive lineman Barrett Jones of Alabama and fifth-round picks Brandon McGee from the University of Miami and running back Zac Stacy of Vanderbilt.
Austin and Ogletree's deals are reportedly good for five-years, while McDonald, Bailey, Jones, McGee and Stacy agreed to four-year pacts.
