Cardinals' Washington pleads guilty in assault case
Mar 24, 2014 - 10:16 PM Phoenix, AZ (SportsNetwork.com) - Arizona Cardinals linebacker Daryl Washington entered a guilty plea Monday in an assault case, according to Maricopa County Superior Court records.Washington initially pleaded not guilty to aggravated assault and trespassing charges.
According to the police report, Washington grabbed the mother of his daughter by her throat and shoved her down to the ground during an altercation at her apartment last May. She told police that Washington broke her collarbone.
A judge set sentencing for April 23.
The 27-year-old Washington was suspended for the first four games of the 2013 regular season for violating the NFL Policy and Program for Substances of Abuse.
A second-round pick of the Cardinals in 2010, Washington was named to the Pro Bowl in 2012 after posting 134 tackles, nine sacks, two forced fumbles and an interception in 16 games.
He has registered 394 tackles, 18 sacks, six interceptions and three forced fumbles in four seasons with Arizona.
