Report: Patriots sign DE Warren to five-year extension
Aug 17, 2007 - 7:36 PM LOS ANGELES (Ticker) - Defensive end Ty Warren made quite the impact for the New England Patriots last season. Now, according to the NFL Network, the Patriots showed their appreciation by giving Warren a five-year contract extension worth over $36 million, including $17.5 million in guaranteed money.
Warren, the 13th overall pick in the 2003 draft, had two years remaining on his existing contract.
The 6-5, 300-pound Warren started in all 15 games he played last season and has missed just one game during his career. He registered a career-high 7.5 sacks in 2006.
Warren was obviously pleased with the Patriots' commitment.
"It means everything to me," Warren told the Boston Globe. "The commitment they showed me, I'm going to show the same commitment back."
