Rams add G Joseph
May 28, 2014 - 3:46 PM St. Louis, MO (SportsNetwork.com) - The St. Louis Rams announced Wednesday the signing of guard Davin Joseph, a two-time Pro Bowl selection during his previous tenure with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.NFL.com reported the deal to be a one-year contract.
Joseph, a first-round choice (23rd overall) of the Buccaneers in the 2006 draft, earned Pro Bowl honors in 2008 and 2011 and started 99 games over seven seasons with Tampa Bay, including all 16 at right guard in 2013.
The Bucs released the 30-year-old in a salary-cap related move in March.
Joseph gives the Rams a veteran option in the event starting left tackle Jake Long, coming off a torn ACL sustained in late December, isn't ready for the start of the upcoming season. In that case, right guard Rodger Saffold would likely shift over into Long's spot.
