Patriots ink QB Garoppolo
Jun 2, 2014 - 8:20 PM Foxboro, MA (SportsNetwork.com) - The New England Patriots signed quarterback second-round pick and 2013 Walter Payton Award winner Jimmy Garoppolo on Monday.The 22-year-old, taken with the 62nd pick in May's draft, posted 13,151 yards and 118 touchdowns over 45 games as the starter for Eastern Illinois.
Garoppolo completed his college career by throwing for personal bests of 5,050 yards and 53 touchdowns against only nine interceptions in 14 contests en route to being named the best player in the FCS.
