Jets suspend CB Patterson indefinitely

Aug 25, 2014 - 7:29 PM Florham Park, NJ (SportsNetwork.com) - New York Jets cornerback Dimitri Patterson's recent disappearing act has led to him being suspended indefinitely.

Patterson did not show up for Friday's preseason game against the Giants, leaving the Jets confused about his whereabouts.

The only piece of information the Jets got about Patterson came from his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, who told the team that he was physically fine.

General manager John Idzik and coach Rex Ryan eventually met with Patterson on Sunday night. The team had been unable to communicate with him for about 48 hours.

But the Jets said they need some time to gather more information.

"[Patterson] will be suspended indefinitely, and that will allow us to gather more information to what led to his behavior," said Idzik.

The Jets were already thin at cornerback after injuries hit Dee Milliner (high ankle sprain), Dexter McDougle (torn ACL) and Antonio Allen (concussion).

The 31-year-old Patterson signed with the Jets in April after stints with Miami, Cleveland, Philadelphia, Kansas City and Washington.
