Palmer out, Stanton to start for Cardinals
Sep 14, 2014 - 3:52 PM East Rutherford, NJ (SportsNetwork.com) - Arizona Cardinals quarterback Carson Palmer is out and Drew Stanton will make his first NFL start since 2010 in his place Sunday against the New York Giants.Palmer, who was listed as questionable to play on Friday's injury report, is reportedly dealing with a nerve issue in his right throwing shoulder.
Cardinals coach Bruce Arians had said Friday that he believed Palmer would be able to play. Instead, Stanton will see his first regular-season game action in four years.
Second-year safety Tyrann Mathieu, who missed Monday night's 18-17 win over San Diego, was active for the first time since suffering a torn ACL in a game last December.
