Patriots put Ridley, Mayo on IR
Oct 16, 2014 - 9:38 PM Foxboro, MA (SportsNetwork.com) - The New England Patriots placed linebacker Jerod Mayo and running back Stevan Ridley on injured reserve prior to Thursday night's game against the New York Jets.Mayo and Ridley both suffered a major knee injury during a Week 6 win against the Buffalo Bills.
The moves opened two active roster spots for the Patriots, who promoted offensive lineman Chris Barker and running back Jonas Gray from the practice squad to the 53-man roster.
Mayo had surgery Thursday morning to repair a torn patellar tendon, according to CSNNE. The hope is for a six-month recovery. He had 53 tackles and one sack in six games this year.
The Boston Herald reported earlier this week that Ridley suffered a torn ACL and MCL. He carried the ball 94 times for 340 yards and two touchdowns in six games this season.
