McCoy will start in Week 8 if RG3 isn't ready

Oct 20, 2014 - 8:32 PM Ashburn, VA (SportsNetwork.com) - Washington Redskins head coach Jay Gruden named Colt McCoy as the team's starter for next Monday night's game at Dallas, but there is a chance that Robert Griffin III will make his return.

McCoy replaced an ineffective Kirk Cousins at halftime during Sunday's 19-17 win against Tennessee and led the squad down the field for Kai Forbath's game- winning field goal as time expired.

McCoy, who is 6-15 in his career as a starter, was 11-of-12 for 128 yards and a touchdown in the second half.

Cousins was 10-of-16 for 139 yards with an interception over the first 30 minutes. He has thrown 10 touchdown passes and nine interceptions in six games -- five starts -- this season.

Gruden stated that Griffin's "got to be 100 percent" in order to go next Monday night.

"I can't rule him out. But he's still got a long way to go," he said.

Griffin dislocated his ankle early in the first quarter of Washington's Week 2 game against Jacksonville.
