Bills WR Watkins misses practice

Nov 6, 2014 - 8:56 PM Orchard Park, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - Buffalo Bills rookie wide receiver Sammy Watkins missed practice on Thursday after suffering a groin injury the day before.

Running back Fred Jackson practiced for the second day in a row but isn't ready to play yet, according to his coach.

Watkins, the No. 4 overall pick of the 2014 draft, leads the team in receptions, receiving yards and touchdown catches. He left practice on Wednesday because of the injury, which is not believed to be serious, according to multiple reports.

Bills head coach Doug Marrone mentioned those media reports while saying he wasn't going to expand on what was publicly known.

"I'm just going to stick with the injury reports and say he's not practicing right now," he said Thursday of Watkins.

The Bills play Kansas City at home on Sunday afternoon.

Jackson is practicing for the first time since he suffered a groin injury Oct. 19 against Minnesota and was limited for the second day in a row.

"I think Fred's not ready to go yet, so we'll see how that keeps progressing during the week," Marrone said. "Right now I'm not sure."

The Bills had a bye last week, so the 33-year-old Jackson has only missed one game. He has previously said he could be out up to a month.
