Redskins' McCoy exits game
Dec 14, 2014 - 7:01 PM East Rutherford, NJ (SportsNetwork.com) - Washington Redskins quarterback Colt McCoy left Sunday's game against the New York Giants after aggravating a previous neck injury on the team's first offensive series.McCoy, who had been listed as questionable on the final injury report due to a strained neck but was cleared to play on Friday, was on the field for the entirety of Washington's initial drive. He was replaced by Robert Griffin III for the Redskins' next possession, however, with the team labeling McCoy questionable to return.
McCoy marched the Redskins 79 yards in 13 plays on his lone drive, which ended in a Kai Forbath field goal. The fifth-year pro completed 4-of-7 passes for 39 yards on the sequence, while adding 23 yards on a pair of runs.
Griffin, the 2012 NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year, was supplanted by McCoy as the starter after struggling in a 17-13 Washington loss at San Francisco in Week 12. McCoy was making his third consecutive start following the switch.
