Redskins' McCoy placed on IR
Dec 16, 2014 - 8:10 PM Ashburn, VA (SportsNetwork.com) - Washington Redskins quarterback Colt McCoy will not play again this season because of a neck injury.Redskins coach Jay Gruden on Tuesday said McCoy's injury is not considered "long-term," but the team has placed the fifth-year pro on injured reserve.
Gruden on Monday had said Robert Griffin III would start Saturday's game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
McCoy suffered a neck strain two Sundays ago in a loss to St. Louis and aggravated the injury on the first offensive series last week in the 24-13 loss to the New York Giants.
The Redskins are 3-11 and have lost six straight games since McCoy led the team to its most recent victories -- a Week 7 triumph over Tennessee and a Week 8 overtime win at Dallas.
McCoy completed 91-of-128 passes for 1,057 yards with four touchdowns and three interceptions in five games this season, four of which were starts.
