Bills release FB Summers
Dec 16, 2014 - 9:22 PM Orchard Park, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - The Buffalo Bills released fullback Frank Summers on Tuesday. The Bills needed to open up a roster spot for running back C.J. Spiller, who could return for Sunday's game against Oakland.
Bills coach Doug Marrone announced Monday that Spiller will be added to the active roster this week after missing the last seven games with a broken collarbone.
Spiller was injured on a 53-yard run in Buffalo's Week 7 game against Minnesota. He was placed on injured reserve/designated to return, which allowed him to resume practicing earlier this month.
Summers started six of the first seven games this season, but has been inactive for the past four weeks. Used mostly as a blocker, Summers had six carries for 17 yards and a touchdown.
No one has shouted yet.
