Panthers re-sign Scott, release DeCoud

Feb 17, 2015 - 8:06 PM Charlotte, NC (SportsNetwork.com) - The Carolina Panthers have signed guard Chris Scott to a one-year contract extension and also released safety Thomas DeCoud.

Scott could have become a restricted free agent next month. He was cut by the Panthers last summer after starting eight games in 2013, then returned to the club in October and played in eight games.

DeCoud signed with Carolina last offseason as a free agent after playing his first six NFL seasons with Atlanta. He started 11 of the first 12 games this past season, missing one because of a hamstring injury, then appeared in four games as a reserve the rest of the way.

The seven-year veteran had 49 tackles with an interception in his lone season for Carolina. He has 15 career interceptions in 104 NFL games.
