Cardinals, Fitzgerald agree to new contract
Feb 18, 2015 - 8:18 PM Indianapolis, IN (SportsNetwork.com) - The Arizona Cardinals and Larry Fitzgerald have agreed on a new contract that allows the star wide receiver to finish his career with the organization.Cardinals general manager Steve Keim told reporters of the agreement at the NFL scouting combine on Wednesday morning. Per Keim, it's "essentially a two- year deal."
Fitzgerald will reportedly make $11 million per year over the next two years. The new contract frees about $13 million in cap space for Arizona this season.
The eight-time Pro Bowler was scheduled to make $16 million in 2015, with a cap figure of $23.6 million. He was signed through the 2018 season.
Fitzgerald, 31, has spent his entire NFL career with the Cardinals since being drafted third overall in the 2004 draft. The Pittsburgh product is the franchise's all-time leader in every major receiving category.
He caught 63 passes for 784 yards and two touchdowns in 14 games this past season. Fitzgerald has 909 receptions for 12,151 yards and 89 touchdowns in 170 career games.
