Cardinals release DT Dockett

Feb 27, 2015 - 9:35 PM Tempe, AZ (SportsNetwork.com) - The Arizona Cardinals released veteran defensive tackle Darnell Dockett on Friday.

Dockett, who was selected to the Pro Bowl in 2007, 2009 and 2010, missed all of last season after suffering a knee injury in training camp.

Arizona was in talks with the 10-year pro about restructuring his $9.8 million cap hit for the 2015 season, but instead, he will hit the open market.

"We have been very clear about our feelings for Darnell and our desire to have him back," said Cardinals general manager Steve Keim. "After speaking with him and his representatives, we decided that this move today makes the most sense for both the team and the player and allows each to keep all of its options open."

Since being drafted out of Florida State in the third round of the 2004 draft, Dockett has compiled 459 tackles, 40 1/2 sacks, seven forced fumbles and four interceptions in 158 career games, all with the Cardinals.
