Report: Steelers WR Ward doubtful against Cardinals

Sep 26, 2007 - 9:11 PM PITTSBURGH (Ticker) - Pittsburgh Steelers coach Mike Tomlin says wide receiver Hines Ward is doubtful for Sunday's game, according to a report on the Pittsburgh Review-Tribune's web site.

Ward sprained his right knee Sunday during a 37-16 victory over the San Francisco 49ers and it does not appear he'll be ready for this week's game at the Arizona Cardinals.

"I've learned not to count a guy like Hines Ward out," Tomlin told the Review-Tribune. "That's why I'm saying it's being characterized as doubtful."

Ward, who played in 116 consecutive games before missing time in 2005 due to a hamstring injury, remains optimistic. He described his situation as "day-to-day" and said he is going to "try my best" to play.

"You know me, I don't like to miss games," he told the newspaper.

A four-time Pro Bowler, Ward has nine catches for 108 yards and a touchdown this season for the 3-0 Steelers.
